With South America calling me, I randomly selected Chile and accepted a one-year teaching position for a school in Santiago; moving in the summer of 2008. I didn't speak Spanish, so I had to learn quick. I certainly had plenty of 'lost in translation' moments and awkwardness but that's all part of living in a different culture.
